When Kyrsten Lucas applied for a summer internship at Pfizer in Groton, Conn., she knew it was a competitive process. (Only 3% of applicants were accepted this year.) Thanks to the support and preparation she received at Mitchell College, she felt well equipped to pursue the opportunity.

State Funding to Expand Accessibility to Mitchell Woods
Mitchell College was recently awarded a $396,960 grant for Mitchell Woods: Accessibility in Action by the Connecticut Recreational Trails Grant Program through the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). The project will expand accessibility of Mitchell Woods to a broad range of users, including college students, seniors, preschool and school-age children, hearing- and sight-impaired individuals, and the greater community.

For Will Dreier ’24—who completed the Thames at Mitchell College program before earning his bachelor’s degree in communication— it was being named class valedictorian, achieving the highest grade point average in his class.
Congratulations to the Class of 2024
In a year the college is celebrating its 85th anniversary, Mitchell College held its 80th Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 11, on the college green with the Thames River as a backdrop. Under sunny skies and surrounded by cheering friends and family, graduates received their diplomas from President Tracy Y. Espy, Ph.D., who conferred 10 associate degrees and 102 bachelor degrees.
Rediscovering Creative Expression
Communication major Diamara Pagan has always had a passion for graphic design and wrote in her college essay that she had dreams of one day becoming a designer. While life’s obligations dimmed her passion for a while, the rising senior has found her spark again here at Mitchell College, putting her on track to pursue the career of her dreams.
Baseball Heads to NCAA Regional Championship Game
With an overall record of 34-11, the Mariners have matched the program’s all-time win total and will need just one victory on Sunday, May 19, to advance to the Super Regional Round for the first time in program history. Mitchell plays Salisbury at 11 a.m.
Baseball Will Open NCAA Tournament on Friday at Babson Regional
After capturing the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championship during their inaugural season in the conference, the Mitchell College baseball team earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. They will travel to Babson College, which was selected as one of 16 regional hosts, and are scheduled to play Friday, May 17, at 1:30 p.m.

9/11 Survivor Named Commencement Speaker
Mitchell College marks its 80th Commencement Exercises on Sat., May 11, with 9/11 survivor Dan Holdridge delivering the keynote address to the Class of 2024. The ceremony takes place at 10 a.m. on the Mitchell College Green.
Walk for Suicide Prevention
Mitchell College invites the community to attend A Story Unfinished: Walk for Suicide Prevention on Sunday, April 14, 2024, 11:30 a.m.–3 p.m. Hosted by the Mitchell College Mental Health Club and the Mitchell College Commuter Association, the event raises money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Participation is free, but the fundraising goal for the walk is $5,000. The event takes place rain or shine.
