This semester will look a little different than others!

In working towards a safe return of our students to campus, and in keeping with social distancing and room density guidelines, some of our staff is working remotely or on campus in limited hours. Therefore, drop ins to offices are not allowed. Appointments should be made via email or Symplicity.

How do I attend an online class?

All classes will be online for the first two weeks of Session I, beginning Monday, January 25. Most instructors will send class details to your Mitchell email account. You can also log into Moodle (Open LMS) to view course information. For assistance with email, Moodle, and our other online systems, visit our Remote Learning Guide.

What are the different ways classes are being delivered?

Beginning on September 14, classes will be a mix of in person (IP), remote learning (RL) and hybrid/blended (HB), with classes being as synchronous as possible. Courses are designed to ensure instructors are accessible and interaction as a class community if emphasized. If you have questions about class delivery, please contact your academic advisor.

Who do I contact if I am having log-in issues? 

Please contact technology support at 860-701-5190 or support@mitchell.edu for all log-in issues. Library staff is also available to assist with Moodle/Open LMS and library database login help (asklis@mitchell.edu; 860-701-5156).

What do I do if I don’t have a computer?

Laptop requests can be emailed to asklis@mitchell.edu. Once we confirm that we have what you need, the library will invite you to schedule a curbside pickup time.

Will the library be open?

The library space will be open to students by appointment and collections available for curbside pickup during this time of remote and hybrid learning.  The  library’s online databases and ebooks are available 24/7 from off-campus (login with the library barcode on the back of your college ID). Library staff support is available virtually by phone, online chat, email, and appointment through Symplicity.  Visit the library website for more information.

How do I reach my academic advisor?

Academic advising services are available online, with individual in-person appointments with your academic advisor available one day per week, by appointment only. You may set appointments (online or in-person) with your academic advisor via Symplicity. Advisor contact information may be found here.

As a Thames student, how will I stay connected?

In addition to your online class time and support, we will also be sending all course assignments and requirements and updates regularly to Thames students. Be sure to check your email twice daily, morning and evening.

How can I reach Accessibility Services if I am concerned about my accommodations?

Antaya Lee, Accessibility Coordinator, can be reached via email at lee_a@mitchell.edu or via phone at 860-701-5790.The office will be open for online hours and one day per week for in-person appointments, by appointment only.

Extended time accommodation for tests: Students and faculty should collaborate to ensure documented accommodations are addressed.

Access to notes: Faculty are working to make sure that information is accessible to students, including any notes. If you have concerns, you should email your professor first. If you need further assistance, please contact Antaya Lee, Accessibility Services Coordinator at lee_a@mitchell.edu.

What if I need tutoring?

The Tutoring Center
The Tutoring Center is free (limitations may apply) and staffed by professionals in their respective subjects. Tutor hours vary; make appointments via Symplicity at 
mitchell.edu/students.

Writing Help
Students may get help outlining, drafting and revising essays 24/7 through

I’m a student receiving BLC support. How will that work this spring?

The BLC will offer full capacity services for students in a combination of remote and in-person opportunities for support.

Learning specialists will be providing their students with service delivery information. If you have any questions, please contact each individual learning specialist or Alice Murallo at murallo_a@mitchell.edu.

Arrangements will be made between the learning specialist and each student to develop a plan that best meets your needs.

What about the Office of Integrative Career Development?

The Office of Integrative Career Development (ICD) will operate virtually Tuesday and Thursday and on-campus Monday, Wednesday and Friday. All appointments must be made through Symplicity. Visit mitchell.edu/icd for more information.

Open LMS (Moodle)

Remote Communication and Video Conferencing

Zoom – Zoom is a free video conferencing tool that will be used by many faculty and staff for virtual class time and meetings. No account is required to participate, but you can create an account if you would like to host a meeting of your own. Sign up for a free Zoom account here

Library Services
