Mitchell College recently welcomed Randi Margolis, MSN-Ed., RN, as its director of nursing. In her role, she will oversee the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Mitchell added the program in 2025 to prepare students for a career in nursing.
“I am excited to join Mitchell College as our first cohort of nursing students begins to work in the community with our clinical partners this fall. These placements will provide a variety of patient care experiences in various healthcare settings for our students. Having maintained deep connections to this area, I know that our students will be learning from top-notch professionals. It is an honor to be leading the BSN program at Mitchell, with its culture of student support and state-of-the-art nursing simulation lab, two things that serve our students well as they prepare to provide excellent nursing care,” Margolis said.
Community Connections
Yale New Haven Health/Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, the lead clinical partner for the BSN program, is where Margolis built most of her more than 30 years of clinical and administrative experience. She worked as nurse manager and clinical coordinator in surgical services, PACU/ASU, critical care, and ICU settings, with responsibility for staffing, scheduling, quality and safety initiatives, staff supervision, policy interpretation, regulatory compliance, and interprofessional collaboration.
She also served as nursing faculty at Keiser University and Jersey College School of Nursing. There she provided classroom, laboratory, clinical, simulation, and online instruction. In addition, Margolis supported student advising, tutoring, and performance evaluation and contributed to safe and effective learning environments aligned with program standards.
Mitchell College Provost Mika Nash, Ed.D. said, “Randi brings extensive experience in nursing education, clinical leadership, and administration to the role. She comes to Mitchell College at the perfect time, as our second cohort of nursing students joins our first. It will be exciting to watch the BSN program grow each year under her tenure. We know she will provide a strong foundation to the program and be an excellent role model for our students.”
Margolis holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in education and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Educational Leadership.

The Edward and Mary Lord Nursing Simulation and Skills Laboratory (SIM Lab) is the hub of learning for the BSN program. In the SIM Lab nursing students practice a variety of healthcare techniques and procedures using medical equipment and training manikins.
