Efrain Dominguez, Jr. ’93, New London city councilor and Mitchell College alumnus, will deliver greetings to the Mitchell College Class of 2030 at Convocation on Wednesday, September 2, at 4 p.m. in The Red Barn.
A special rite of passage at the start of each academic year, Convocation welcomes new students into the Mitchell College community and marks the start of the next step on their education journey.
Dominguez’s journey from Mitchell College includes becoming an educator 29 years ago and a current seven-term New London city councilor, including five terms as president.
After Dominguez graduated from Mitchell College with an associate degree in general studies, he pursued a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Eastern Connecticut State University, and a master’s degree in education with a concentration in social studies from the University of New Haven.
Today he teaches bilingual social studies at Bennie Dover Jackson Multi Campus in New London. He also served as head coach of New London High school wrestling for eight years.
A strong advocate for the New London community, he founded the annual “We Are New London Parade” to celebrate its people and the rich cultural diversity of the city.
He looks forward to sharing his story and welcoming the newest members of the New London community, the Mitchell College Class of 2030.
