With deepest gratitude for her support and friendship, we remember Mitchell College Honorary Trustee Dr. Anne Bingham Pierson, who passed away on October 22, 2026, at the age of 97.

Dr. Pierson was a descendant of the Mitchell family, the great-granddaughter of Annie Olivia Tiffany and Alfred Mitchell, namesake of Mitchell College. Their generosity and vision helped shape its founding, and the family’s longstanding connection to the College, including its contributions to the original campus and the establishment of Alfred Mitchell Woods, remains an important part of our institutional heritage.

A physician, artist, and philanthropist, Dr. Pierson received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Mitchell College in 2019, in recognition of her professional accomplishments, leadership, and service to the community.

She was named an Honorary Trustee in 2024.
