For senior Shayna Gelfond, the seamless transfer experience at Mitchell College lived up to its promise. Before enrolling at Mitchell as a junior, she felt a lot of uncertainty.

“I was so nervous transferring because I didn’t know anyone or the campus or even if I could graduate on time, but Mitchell made it easy. Everything happened stress free!”

Shayna, who commutes to school, was drawn to Mitchell initially for its proximity to her home and its generous scholarships. Once she became a Mariner, she quickly found that the small classes and the ease of building relationships with professors were other positives.

“Educationally, I find that Mitchell has more support for students. Anytime you need extra help or just someone to talk to, your professors and advisors are always readily available.”

Another plus?

“Mitchell Beach! You can’t complain when you go to college on the water.”

A member the National Society of Leadership and Success (Sigma Alpha Pi), Shayna, who is studying business administration, says her favorite course so far has been Business Plan Development.

“In Business Plan Development I created a care package subscription company targeted at college students, single parents and elderly people. I wrote a business plan with financials and presented it to a ‘shark tank.’ This course was a challenge, but the final presentation was so much fun.”

Shayna, who hopes to travel extensively once settled into a full-time job after graduation, is happy to share her transfer experience with anyone.

“Advice I gave and will keep giving about transferring to Mitchell is do not stress! Mitchell handles everything.”
