Assistant/Associate Professor - Business Department

Position Summary

Mitchell College is building on its long history of making liberal arts education more accessible by pioneering an entirely new approach which is flexible, strength-based and interest driven. Our ability-based approach to learning focuses on teaching adaptability through a core academic discipline curriculum, which provides multiple opportunities for students to apply skills in different learning and professional contexts. To keep this model innovative, vibrant and responsive to students’ interests, we need instructors and faculty who are experienced in building cross-disciplinary collaborations between areas of interest, both in our core curriculum and in dynamic new concentrations of study. This revolutionary approach to learning ensures students learn the adaptive skills they need to live life well, both professionally and personally.

To support and build upon this new model, the College is seeking a new full-time faculty member who is interested in being a leader in crafting this new curriculum within our Business Administration department. Applicants must share a passion for, and, optimally, a history of, teaching across a variety of disciplines and curriculum. Assistant Professor - Early Childhood Education Division/Department: Teaching and Learning

The Department of Early Childhood Education is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach early childhood education undergraduate courses beginning in September 2018. Mitchell College is only one of five colleges in the state of Connecticut that is sanctioned to offer the Connecticut Department of Education #113 Integrated Early Childhood/Special Education, Nursery-K-Elementary, 1-3 certification. Additional responsibilities include assisting with program review and revision, compliance with CAEP, state regulations and guidelines, assisting in supporting teacher candidates in all aspects edTPA, student advising, curriculum development, program development, and new course development.

Associate Director - Thames

Position Summary

Mitchell College is seeking to hire an Associate Director – Thames at Mitchell College Program who will assist in leading a gap-year college-readiness residential program, on the Mitchell Campus (a one-of-a-kind transition year program), for students who are college-able but not yet college-ready, chiefly because of learning differences.  The Associate Director assists in creating the educational, residential and social programs, helping to oversee a staff of eight to implement the programs, for assisting in the implementation of a comprehensive assessment plan in order to be able to articulate the successes of the Thames program, and for remaining connected and current on research related to residential and academic programs for students with learning differences.  This position provides the opportunity to take an innovative education program to the next level.  The program has grown from 30 students in 2014 to 74 in 2018.

Human Resources - Temporary HR Assistant

Position Summary

Mitchell College is seeking to hire a Temporary HR Assistant to help the HR team with administrative duties and also assist with bi-weekly payroll using ADP – WFN. The temporary assignment is expected to be for about 10 – 12week duration.

Examples of Essential Functions:
-Assist with Administrative duties of the HR department including filing, scanning, faxing, and other clerical duties as required
-Assist with other payroll related tasks as assigned
-Organizing of personnel files and other documents

Key Relationships and Supervision:
This position reports to the Manager of Human Resources and has no direct reports.  The incumbent will work with both internal and external vendors, administrative staff, and the Business office.

Required Education and Experience:
-Familiarity working with ADP – WFN
-Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in a HR department
-MS Office proficiency, Microsoft Access experience strongly desired

Key Skills / Knowledge:
-Excellent judgment and the ability to keep HR and payroll information confidential
-Strong organizational and time management skills
-Excellent computer skills; Strong working knowledge of Access, Excel, and Word
-Excellent auditing skills; strong attention to detail

On-Call Shuttle Driver

Position Summary

Mitchell College is seeking to hire a Part-Time/On-Call Shuttle driver to provide transportation of students (using College provided vehicles) to off-campus events, including trips of considerable distance. This position is considered on-call, though the incumbent would be given appropriate notice of the College’s transportation needs. This position would work approximately 10-hours per week.

Social Integration Specialist

Position Summary

Mitchell College is seeking to hire a Social Integration Specialist to assist students in navigating their educational and social experience in the living/learning community at Thames. This is an integral role in providing support, guidance, and co-curricular guidance of students in the program and in the residence hall. S/He will be responsible for building strong relationships with students and referring appropriately. This position works collaboratively with Thames staff and faculty to provide holistic support to Thames students, and seamless support services by maintaining collaborative working relationships within the College including: Residence Life, Student Health and Wellness, Campus Safety, Disability Student Services, Career Services, Registrar and Academic Advising, and Student Activities.
