Fall Weekend 2025 Activities and Schedule

The entire Mitchell College community is excited to get back together on our beautiful campus for this year’s Fall Weekend, with events for students, alumni, parents, friends of Mitchell, and guests from our New London community.

Check out the schedule below for a full weekend of events. All activities are free to attend unless otherwise indicated. Some events require registration.

NOTE: Event times and descriptions are subject to change and may be impacted by the weather. We will be sending out communications via email and making updates to this webpage as needed.

Friday, September 26, 2025

5:00–6:30pm | Grab a Seat at the Table (Themed Dinner) | Milner Dining Hall  

Come enjoy a true taste of college life with dinner in the dining hall served with a Fall Weekend flair. Join us for Family Pasta Night — CIAO! Pay onsite

6:00–6:45pm | Dessert and Lawn Games | Welcome | Clarke Patio
6:15pm | Welcome from Administration

Kick off Fall Weekend with sweet treats and friendly fun! Enjoy fresh-baked cookies from Dining Services on the Weller Patio, grab a seat at a table or relax on the lawn, and join in classic lawn games. Music by Radio Mitchell will keep the energy high as we welcome guests to campus, with special welcome remarks from the Administration. Free and open to all! 

7:00–9:00pm | Family Night, Mitchell Style – Bingo Blitz | The Red Barn  

Join us for Bingo Blitz: Fall Fest Edition, a high-energy, prize-packed Bingo night celebrating the heart of Fall Weekend! Bring your friends, meet new people, and enjoy a night of laughs, community, and the chance to win some seriously cool prizes. Whether you’re in it for the thrill of the game or the cozy fall vibes, there’s a seat waiting for you.

Noon–9:00pm | Mariners Wharf Pop-Up Shop 

Stop by our pop-up shop behind Michael’s Dairy to stock up on Mitchell College apparel and gear! From cozy sweatshirts to alumni goodies and spirited accessories, find the perfect items to show off your Mariner pride. Pre-order here and have your order ready to pick up that day.

8:00–10:30am | Community Breakfast | Milner Dining Hall  

Start your day with a delicious breakfast in the Milner Dining Hall — everyone’s welcome! Enjoy a variety of morning favorites while connecting with friends and fellow guests. Pay on site. 

9:00–10:00am | Morning Brew with the Mitchell Crew | Milner Dining Hall  

Join the Mitchell community for a warm, welcoming meet-and-greet and meaningful conversation about supporting a thriving college student. Moderated by Dr. Gizelle Tircuit, Ph.D., L.P.C., Director of Health and Wellness, this discussion will feature personal stories from faculty and staff with lived experience.

Guests are also invited to take part in a special Student Engagement project: Our Story Family Response & Letter Collection. All are welcome. You don’t have to eat breakfast to join the conversation. Coffee and community await!

Discover the brilliance and wisdom of the Mitchell College community through engaging passion projects. Choose from two rotating 45-minute sessions—some hands-on, others discussion-based—offered in both the morning and afternoon. Explore new ideas, dive into interactive experiences, and see learning come to life beyond the classroom. Guests are welcome to attend any sessions of interest; space may be limited. 

11:00am–1:30pm | Vintage Gear Sale | Yarnall Green  

Score classic Mitchell College style at the Vintage Athletic Gear Sale on Yarnall Green. Find retro apparel and memorabilia that celebrate our Mariner spirit! No fee; no registration required. 

11:00–Afternoon | Athletic Varsity Games | Athletic Fields 

Wear your red and black and show your Mitchell pride. Cheer on the Mariners and be part of the home-team energy.  

11:00am | Women’s Soccer vs. Colby-Sawyer
1:00pm | Women’s Volleyball vs. Lasell
1:30pm | Men’s Soccer vs. Saint Joseph’s (ME) 

11:30am–2:00pm | Lunch | Milner Dining Hall  

Take a midday break and enjoy lunch at your own pace in the Milner Dining Hall. Choose from a variety of fresh and flavorful options to fuel the rest of your Fall Weekend adventures. Pay on site. 

Noon–1:30pm | Tailgate | Yarnall Green 

Get into the game day spirit with a lively tailgate on Yarnall Green! Enjoy delicious tailgate food, music from Radio Mitchell, and a round of lawn games while soaking up the campus energy under the tent, then kick back with friends before the big games. Register in advance: $20 per guest, including students (not part of meal plans).

 Noon–1:30pm | Beer Tent | Yarnall Green  

Relax and refresh at the Beer Tent on Yarnall Green, located next to the tailgate. Serving beer, wine, and seasonal adult beverages for guests 21 and over. Cheers to a great Fall Weekend! Cash and credits cards accepted. 

 1:00–3:00pm | Corn Hole Sand Slam | Mitchell Beach  

Looking for laid-back vibes and light competition? Corn Hole Sand Slam is your go-to Fall Weekend hangout. Grab a partner, toss some bags, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon full of music, connection, and fall energy. Whether you’re here to win or just unwind, this is your chance to kick back, meet new people, and enjoy the season. Prizes, laughs, and good company guaranteed. 

2:00–3:00pm | Kayak Tours with Coach Peretz | Mitchell Beach  

Experience Mitchell from the water! Kayak along the Thames River with Coach Todd Peretz and take in the campus from a different point of view. This adventure launches from Mitchell Beach, weather permitting. Waivers must be signed on site.

2:00–3:00pm | Alumni Resident Hall Staff Reunion/Res Hall Open House | Saunders Hall

Stop by Saunders Hall to connect with current students, families, and alumni for fall-themed fun, festive snacks, and to learn more about Mitchell Residence Life — past and present — at its best.

2:00–4:00pm | Pickleball Play | Montauk Avenue Courts 

Come swing into the fun at Pickleball Play & Learn, led by the Pickleball Club! Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, this is your chance to test your skills on the court, learn the basics, and connect with fellow students in a casual and welcoming environment. You’ll also get the inside scoop on intramurals and how to get involved throughout the year. Paddles, fun, and friendly competition provided, just bring yourself and your best game face!

2:00–4:00pm | Service Projects | The Cove 

Students, families, and alumni are invited to drop in at The Cove for a letter-writing project. Participants will hand-write letters of encouragement for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer. Click here for more information. 

4:00–5:00pm | Alumni Reception | Umbrella House 

All alumni are invited to gather in the historic Umbrella House for a time of connection and celebration. Enjoy a special toast honoring the Classes of ‘5s and the Class of 1975 on their 50th Reunion. Raise a glass to shared memories and lifelong Mitchell College pride! 

5:00–7:00pm | Taco Night | Milner Dining Hal  

Spice up your evening with a festive taco-themed dinner in Milner Dining Hall! Build your perfect plate with a variety of fresh toppings and flavorful fillings. Pay on site. 

On Your Own | Discover New London and the Surrounding Area  

Explore the best of Southeastern Connecticut! Stroll through historic downtown New London, venture to charming Mystic, or try your luck at nearby casinos. From waterfront views to local attractions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

11:30am–1:00pm | Jazz Brunch and Goodbye | Weller Center 

Ease into the end of the weekend with smooth sounds and even smoother vibes at Jazz Brunch. Enjoy a delicious spread of brunch favorites while taking in live jazz music that sets the perfect tone for a laid-back morning. For guests 21 and over, a bartender will be serving up refreshing drinks (included with your entry). Whether you’re here for the food, the music, or just to relax with friends, this is a Fall Weekend moment you won’t want to miss. Register in advance: $35 per guest; $25 for Mitchell and Thames students (not part of meal plans).
