Are You Interested in Piano Lessons?

Flock Theatre Presents Macbeth at the Red Barn

Mitchell College’s resident theater, Flock Theatre, will present their annual Halloween production of Macbeth to be performed in the Red Barn at Mitchell College. Regular performanes wil be held Friday, Nov. 1 & Sunday, Nov. 3 – purchase your tickets here.

Special Dinner Performance

Saturday, Nov. 2 – Experience Macbeth’s coronation banquet like never before with a meal that promises to delight the senses. Food provided by Tim Grills of Mitchell College Dining Services. $50; very limited seating. Purchase your tickets here.

Annual Family Halloween Festival

You’re invited to join us for the 13th Annual Family Halloween Festival on Saturday, October 26 on the Mitchell College Green and Clarke Center from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. This event is hosted by the Mitchell College Behavioral Sciences Club, and we are asking families to donate one non-perishable canned good to support the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Pantry. The event will feature numerous Halloween games, storytelling, arts and crafts, costume parades, a food pavilion, and more!

Speakers Series: Dr. Walter Moore `62 @ Red Barn

In the Red Barn on Wednesday, October 3 at 7pm, Dr. Walter “Skip” Moore, Ph.D. Class of `62 will share a talk titled: “Not a Stepping Stone but a Launching Pad: Mitchell College’s Effect upon my Life and Career.”
As owner and clinical director of his own private practice, Dr. Moore changed the lives of his community for 15 years by directing therapists in a team approach to rehabilitation. Currently, he is the Professor Emeritus of Communicative Disorders and Psychology at the California State University in Long Beach, CA and has held prominent positions throughout his career, including consultant to the National Institute of Health. He was recently honored at Mitchell College’s May 2018 commencement with the Distinguished Alumni Award for his professional accomplishments, innovative research and commitment to education.
This event is open to the entire Mitchell community and the public.

Broadway Audition Workshop @ Clarke Center Stage

PerformingArtsLogo_Square-01You’re invited to participate in a Broadway Workshop with Dev Janki on Thursday, October 4 at 1 p.m. on the Clarke Center stage! The workshop will model a Broadway process and provide support for students in both their professionalism and musical performance.

Participants will be given one-to-one audition slots with instruction, participate in small groups, sing a prepared song, and execute dance combinations. Please arrive with a rough resume, headshot if possible, and 16-32 bars of a prepared song with sheet music. Jono Babbit will accompany students.

This event is free and open to the whole Mitchell community.

About Dev Janki

Dev is an award winning Director/Choreographer. He currently resides in New York City but is originally from Edmonton, Canada. Dev is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York

He directed and choreographed the hit Off-Broadway musical Zanna, Don’t! which premiered to critical acclaim in New York City at the John Houseman Theater. For this show he received the Lucille Lortel, Joseph A. Callaway and GLAAD media awards. The show received numerous other nominations and the original cast album is a best seller for PS Classics.

Other New York credits include: TheatreworksUSA’s long running Junie B. Jones (Lortel Nomination) and recent Henry & Mudge (Lortel Nomination); the Off-Broadway musical Cupid & Psyche at the John Houseman Studio Theater, Judy Speaks, a one woman show about the life of Judy Garland for ARS Nova Theater.

As a performer he has appeared on Broadway in Miss Saigon (Thuy), Cats (Mr. Mistofelees), The King and I (original cast 1997 – album), Side Show (original cast – album), and tours of A Chorus Line (Paul) and West Side Story (Chino).

TV appearances include The Late Show with David Letterman, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, The Today Show, and the HBO comedy series Hard Core TV.
